The town of Luxer is situated 676 kms south of Cairo. That veritable of winter resorts is a part of ancient Thebes, capital of the Ancient Egyptian Empire. It is a place which must be seen, as without contest, no other city has so many resplendent and impressive temples. For over one thousand five hundred years, Egypt's Kings rivaled each other in their attempts to glorify it.

KARNAK TEMPLES:

KARNAK, a group of temples and the religious quarter of Thebes, the Temple of Amon with its Hypostyle hall of 134 columns, Obelisks and sacred Lakes was linked to the Nile by a canal through which moved the famous Sacred Boats. Other buildings include Chapel of Seti II, Temple of Ramses III and Temple of Khonsu.
 
 
LUXOR TEMPLE:

The Temple was constructed by Amenophis III and was once linked with Karnak by Avenue Sphinxes.
 

VALLEY OF THE KINGS & QUEENS:

Cross the Nile where lies the city of the Dead, the Necropolis of Thebes. Visit some of the most interesting tombs such as Seti I, Ramses VI, Amenophis II and Tutankhamen, See also temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the twin Colossi of Memnon erected on the fringe of the desert with their heads

facing the Nile. Both Represent King Amenophis III. Visit the valley of queens and Nobles which shelters the tombs of the Queens and Young Princess. It is located on very picturesque mountain site.
 
DENDERA:

This was the centre of the worship of Hathor, the cowheaded goddess. Her temple in Dendera is one of the most impressive of the Ptolemic Temples, with lavish decorations. On the ceiling of one of the chapels the sky goddess NUT arches her body over the earth.
 
ABYDOS:

The place of the tombs or cenotaphs of the kings of the 1st Dynasty, one of which war later thought to be the Tomb of Osiris, causing Abydos to become a great centre of pilgrimage. You will find famous temples here, Seti i with cenotaph, Temples of Ramses II, etc.

   
ESNA:

Visit the small temple of khnum (Ramheaded God), who was believed to fashion man on a potters wheel from clay of the Nile.

EDFU:

Visit to ruin of the temple dedicated to the Hawk-God Horus. Completed in 42 B.C., it is the best preserved temple and still in excellent condition.
   
KOM OMBO:

Situated on a hill, overlooking the Nile-has unique temple dedicated to two deities. In order not to offend either God a twin temple was constructed, left half dedicated to HORUS (hawk), the right half to SOBEK (crocodile). The fine reliefs in places still retain the brilliant colouring of ancient times.
